[2021 Spring Update] The Awakening Shadow

Introduction

Hi we’re greeting you guys with the first Amigo post of 2021. We were worried about the different atmosphere during the holidays, but we believe this won’t last long and hope all of you stay safe and healthy.

This Amigo post contains information of the Spring update that will occur during March and April. Most of these changes will land during then, but some contents like The Garuda Habitats and the Resource Purification might come around April and May depending on the development speed, so please keep noted.

Field Content Renewal

In 2021, we are renewing some of the old, but active content. First of all, we are adding a new phase in Crimson Rifts and Grimghast Rifts to add some new experiences with better rewards.

Despite the Garden Anthalon has disappeared (assuming they’re talking about the quest line, since there were no changes with Garden Anthalon), there are still demons left in the Garden. Demons, which can only show themselves when they have a medium to go into, seeked to find a new medium, and the bloody army that lost they commanders volunteered to become the demon’s new medium. With their new medium, the demons finally reappeared to the Earth.

Crimson Rift

Once the existing phases are over, an unknown hereafter grasp spawns from the ground. When these are destroyed in time, the demons will start to spawn and the difficulty will raise up much harder.

Grimghast Rift

Like CR, once the original phases are over and the hereafter grips are destroyed, two unknown portals will spawn.

Each of these portals leads to a different place, and you will meet new different mobs. To defeat these mob of demon, you will need to utilize the GR cannons efficiently.

Reward Renewal

There will be an addition of rewards such as more honor points. Not only that, when defeating the new mobs, a new white lunagem may drop from them. These gems increase a specific skill tree’s skill damage or healing skill by 1%. These gems can only be equipped on a head piece, so I doubt it’ll be useful in anyway unless it can be upgraded. (No mention of it being able to get upgraded.)

Instances

Garuda Habitat

Golden Plains Battle will now be renamed as Faction Honor Battle. The Faction Honor Battle will now randomly choose a map between the newly added Garuda Habitat and the existing Halcyona map. Unlike the existing map, the Garuda Habitat has much more chokes, so how battles pan out will change significantly.

The Garuda Habitat we aim to add on April has a short distance between faction bases, but has many different routes. Also due to the environment, players will have limited vision (cuz of all the mountains and trees.) These features will make strategic maneuvers more important ever than before rather than where you would line fight in Halcyona. It will be important to have scouts to see where your enemies are located. Uhh just fucking put an alt on the opposite faction, dummy.

Sea of Drowned Love

This 10 man dungeons now becomes a 5 man dungeon. It will require at least 3 players to pop, and things like the timers will be rebalanced accordingly.

Greater Dungeons

Greater Dungeons have been enjoyed by players early on, but now they’re mostly just ran solo to farm materials. As a result, not many people have been using it, but still had consistent use.

This update lets players access the dungeons more conveniently by making them an instance dungeon. This means it will become cross dungeon, but players who want to solo farm can still enter the dungeons by themselves via the UI.

Greater Dungeon UI

Castle Content: Auroria Resource Purification

XL added a new castle content where you would purify resources. The faction that owns the castle and activate the content (I assume like how the mining content works). They could then purify resources via the spawned miners. When the purification is over, the castle income will go up. The longer you purify, the more income the castle will gain, but it also means the packs you can get by destroying these miners will worth more.

Enemy factions can destory this miner and get a pack which can be individually sold to the Relic merchant, but they can also bring to their faction owned castle to increase that castle’s income. Not sure who’d ever do that honestly.

The amount of gold per pack may change when the patch lands.

The buff says each miner will increase the castle’s income by 600 gold when it is fully purifies.

This content is planned to be introduced in the April update, so keep noted.

Ancestral Skills

The newly added Ancestral skills are for the Insanity skill tree, and makes the complicated skill more simple when chosen the correct ancestral skill for the right situation. Also, some ancestral skills will add additional damage.

Non-ancestral basic skills also went through some changes since the release of the skill class. You’ll notice that my original translations are different compared to the current Insanity skill class descriptions.

Quality of Life

Credit Shop Improvement

We tried improving the usability of the credit shop when we were adding the improved search feature, but didn’t make it on time. This change will improve the overall layout and should make things a lot more straight forward.

Improvements with Chatting.

It may seem trivial, but you may have noticed some inconvenience regarding the chat UI where you weren’t able to scroll up or down with your mouse wheel, etc. Now you can do so, as well as right clicking to select the word, and more conveniences are here to come.

Improvements with Auction Information

Sometimes you may get confused with the price noted in the Auction house, and might have ended up buying items that were more expensive than the average item price. To reduce this issue and the reduce market manipulation, we are adding more information into the UI that helps you check the price information before you make a purchase.

Map Transparency

Some times it was difficult for players to drive and check the map at the same time. Now XL added a feature where you can apply a 40% transparency to the map, so that you can easily navigate while checking the map at the same time. (Like Diablo 2.)

Improvements with Stat Migration

Now you will able to do the following with Stat Migration

  • Even when you maxed out with Stat migration, you can reduce the stats you’ve increased with Stat Migration.
    • For example, you have a Stamina Migration as a Melee DPS and you accidentally increased some Agility instead of Stamina. Now you don’t have to reset your stats. Instead you can just decrease the Agility to gain Stamina.
  • Doesn’t work when the increased stat is larger than the stat you are trying to decrease. (Doesn’t apply to NA/EU, because KR’s Stat Migration is a bit different.)
  • Cannot be used to change a stat you didn’t already change via stat migration.
You can notice that you can still stat migrate even when you hit 300/300.

Conclusion

This is all we have the the Spring update. As announced earlier some content can end up in the April and May updates. Also depending on how the servers are like, we might add some balance changes during April and May. We’ll also be adding events and seasonal arenas during then, so hope this excites you guys.

The dev team is working hard for the upcoming Summer update. XL can’t release much of the details yet, but they aim to improve the Guild system as well as adding some new content that can be done as a guild. Besides that, they are gonna do more field content renewals and will be adding a new dungeon.

[1/14/2021] Mt. Ipnysh & Akasch’s Invasion

Last around this time of the year we vividly remember being busy while introducing the Garden servers. A year has already passed by, and we are introducing Mount Ipnysh. Unfortunately we will first announce all of you that this month’s planned update – originally planned for 1/7 – will get delayed a week and release in 1/14 Thursday.

The lack of time was caused by prepping 2 large updates consecutively during the winter, but also because of working remotely during the pandemic. We hope all of you to stay patient, and they will do their best to repay you guys with a good update.

Mt. Ipnysh

The main objective they’ve thought while prepping the Mount Ipnysh update was to provide content that could be enjoyed by every player regardless of their gear progression.

Currently Korean Archeage has a wide specturm of servers from the oldest Legacy servers, 2 Unchained servers, to the most recently opened Morpheus server. That being last year around this time, opening the garden zone and opening higher tier gear only provided content to end game players who play in the Legacy servers and the Garden 1 server.

As a result, while it can be a bit ambitious, this Mount Ipnysh update contains a level scaling system that determines the zone’s difficulty based on your gear progression, and, while mileages may vary, rewards and benefits everyone.

From this, they hope new NEW PLAYERS MY ASS and returning players can enjoy this new update and skip some of the long processes of gearing up.

1. The Fateful Return

The guardians that sensed a threat in Mysthrane Gorge realized that they needed other protector’s help to prepare for the coming chaos. Freyjan and Loreal, who remembers their past life, heads to Mount Ipnysh, home of the guardians, in hopes to find other guardians like themselves.

However Mount Ipnysh looked a lot different than how it looked like in the guardian’s memory. The Akasch structures and aura spread across Mount Ipnysh shows that Akach’s invasion has already begun.

The story of Mount Ipnysh that will be introduced on January will start with the guardians trying to defend from the already started Akasch’s Invasions. Through this update, you will be able to learn about how the Akasch were able to endure through such long time to come over to the Hirnor dimension players all live in, whether there were any other awaken guardians.

2. Queen’s Altar

The Adventurers that did all they can do to stop Akasch’s invasion with the Guardians chased Raven’s whereabouts and felt they were getting closer to Akasch. Eventually Raven’s traces led the Adventurer and the Guardians to the Queen’s Altar which lies truth of another story.

The Queen’s Altar was a place used by Akasch to serve their Queen ‘Kina’. Though not necessary, providing sacrifice was an act of obediance meant a lot in Akasch’s culture. The appearance of the Queen’s Altar in Mt. Ipnysh meant that Akasch’s invasion is imminent.

The Queen’s Altar is an Episodic Dungeon and can be entered depending on your quest progression. With your friends that show up in the main quest, you will fight back against the Akasch’s invasion that gets stronger over time.

3. Potential

We’re introducing a new system that only applies within the Mt. Ipnysh zone.

Potential Buff

Buffs the following:

  • Increases Max HP
  • Increases PvE Damage
  • Reduces Received PvE damage
  • Increases Ally targeted Healing Power

This buff get reduced the stronger your actual character is.

Inside Mt. Ipnysh, you get the Potential buff that gives you combat buffs against NPCs. This buff helps lesser geared Adventurers to also enjoy content within Mt. Ipnysh, and gets reduced the more the character gets stronger.

Over time, MMORPGs tend to have a higher entry barrier for new/returning players to enjoy the game as they face difficulties progressing in the game. As a result, XL is trying out features like this Potential system to help those to enjoy new content even if they are not as geared as the high gear score players.

This will also help newly starting players to not only enjoy Mt. Ipnysh, but also progress faster through the given rewards.

4. Akasch’s Badge Merchant

You can earn Akasch’s Badges by killing mobs, completing quests, and participating in the Akasch’s invasion in Mt. Ipnysh. This item can be exchanged with several useful items via a merchant. A normal merchant is available in Mt. Ipnysh and also in each faction’s bases within, but a special merchant that sells special items is only available for a short period of time when you defend Akasch’s Invasion.

The special merchant only sells some items out of a pool of items, and these items can only be purchased once. This purchase limit resets every midnight, and if you’re lucky, you might be able to buy those items with a discount.

Akasch’s Invasion

Through advanced knowledge from the ancient race Akasch made a dimension laboratory and collected knowledge about dimensions. From Raven, who discovered the border of dimensions, Akasch learned that Ipnysh’s Seal spell was encrypted. Ipnysh’s Seal spell’s password kept on changing with an unknown interval, and it took Akaschs hundreds of years to understand it.

Finally, Akasch designed ‘Hapash’ to decode the Seal spell. With Raven weakening the Akasch Sealstone, Ipnysh’s Seal spell malfunctioned and stopped changing its password. ‘Hapash’ never stopped and kept trying to decode the password, and finally comes the moment where borders between the two dimensions are gone. The portal is very close from from opening.

Kina, the ruler of the Akasch, remembers even the very last moment when the Ipnysh stopped them before, and chooses the fortress Mt. Ipnysh as their recall portal.

1. Akasch’s Invasion Process

Powerful Akasch, for the first time, appears in the world.

Akasch’s Invasion happens up to 3 times a week, and continuously changes the visuals of the world during the start of the invasion till the end.

  • Omen of the Crack: Mt. Ipnysh starts having changes, and players group up to prepare for the invasion.
  • Crack in the Dimension: Cracks around Mt. Ipnysh starts causing abnormal phenomenons, and players have to investigate and fix them.
  • Akasch’s Invasion: Akasch starts appearing in Mt. Ipnysh, and the players have to stop them.

When Akasch’s Invasion starts the whole world is in danger, so players have to cooperate with each other regardless of their factions. As a result, Mt. Ipnysh goes into peace, and factions will not be able to fight each other.

2. Results of Akasch’s Invasion

Once the invasion starts, all players have to fight against Akasch. Regardless of the faction, points from every player’s activities counts as ally’s points, while Akasch earns points by taking over Mt. Ipnysh and killing players. To stop the invasion, the players have to earn points faster than Akasch by destroying the dimension cracks and defeating Akasch mobs.

If the invasion is stopped, Akasch will retreat until the next invasion and players will be able to gain a variety of rewards. The rewards mentioned here are core materials necessary for ‘Ipnysh’s Relic‘ which will be discussed below.

On the other hand, failing to prevent the invasion still makes Akasch to retreat, but raid bosses throughout the world (like Kraken, and Charybdis) will become even more powerful than they usually are.

Ipnysh’s Relic

Ipnysh’s Relic lets you use powers passed by Ipnysh to extremely enhance your equipped gear. This is a slightly different concept than improving your gear, as this system improves the character’s body that equips the gear.

For example, if you improve your right hand with Ipnysh’s Relic (depending on how much you improved the right hand), the weapon on your right hand will become more and more stronger. This improvement can be done on every part of your body. Not only that, once you reach a certain rank, you may receive special effects and can also receive set effects, so you can strategize how you would like to improve your body.

Ipnysh’s Relic improves the character’s body part that equips gear, so you can only receive the effects when you actually equip a gear on that body part. But that also means, you can receive that effect regardless of what type of armor you wear, so it is a viable progression method for any player regardless of whether the player is fully geared or not.

This update isn’t only tailored for high gear score players who are done gearing up, so all sorts of players can try out this content and find the rewards useful, and XL hopes players will find this content enjoyable.

Miscellaneous

1. Increasing Max Ancestral Levels

Level cap is now 70.

As much as the new update provides new zones and new ways to progress further, the update also increases the max Ancestral level. The effects you get by getting higher level is about the same as previous levels, so you won’t gain a significant edge from levels, but XL hopes EXP gained from a variety of activities won’t just go to waste.

2. Manastorm Crystal Merchant

Like the Special merchant that appears in Mt. Ipnysh, this merchant also lets players to exchange items via Manastorm Crystals. Some of the items available in the Manastorm fountain (the thing in Mirage Isles) will be available via RNG, and will be sold on a discount, so when you find the item you want, hurry and go grab it!

Basically some items you can get from manastorm crystals will be on discount.
  • Shop can be opened via Ctrl + N
  • You can get a free reroll item every day, and you can buy a paid reroll with 2 Manastorm Crystals up to 100 times.
  • The purchase limitations and reroll limit resets every midnight.

You might be able to also get some exclusive cosmetic items from this shop, so keep an eye on it.

3. Cosmetic Item Achievement

An achievement by gathering a variety of Cosmetic items, that are available in Archeage, has been added. Once you get this achievement, you can get an awakening scroll that can be used on your Costume to get special effects. Once you get the achievement, you can always remake this awakening scroll, but awakened costumes will always become bound regardless of whether you wore it or not.

Awakening Effect Description:

  • Gain 100 Labor
  • Heals your HP and MP over 10s (They wrote this wrong as “Heals your Max HP and MP over 10s”)
  • Cannot be used while in combat. Effect gets removed if hit.
  • Can be used while on mount, and also can be used while invisible.
  • Cooldown of 1 hour.

4. 8 Year Anniversary Arena

To commemorate the 8th year of Archeage, XL is introducing a new event Arena. This has similar rules to “Among Us”. Now I won’t see my guildmates playing Among Us after content lul

This Arena has 8 players. There will be 6 “Adventurers” and 2 “Guardians” assigned randomly. You need to find Anniversary cakes that are spread throughout the ancient monument and light them up. The guardians can also light up the cake, but will amplify the “Curse”, so you need to be careful.

Adventurers and Guardians need to compete with each other to escape

6 Adventurers can vote to find the Imposter Guardian, but the Guardians can instantly kill the adventurers. The Guardians have to not get caught by the Adventurers and kill the Adventurers while amplifying the Curse by lighting up cakes. Adventurers basically just have to find the Guardians and light up the cakes to reduce the Curse to leave the place.

Conclusion

It’s already been 3 years since they uploaded Amigo posts every month. There’s been a ton of happenings and changes throughout the years and XL is very thankful that yall are sticking with them all this time. They felt this year was even more chaotic, because of Covid 19. They’ve been writing this while working from home, and really realized so much has happened during the past few years.

After this January update, XL plans to release major updates during March, Summer, September, and Winter. So about 4~5 big updates they claim. During months that don’t have big updates, they will work on balance patches and QoL improvements, as well as adding live services. They’ll prioritize those changes based of off player feedback, so they encourage players to send tons of ideas and opinions.

Finally 2020 has come to an end and 2021 is starting. They hope yall have a good end of the year, and hope 2021 will be full of hope and joy.

[12/3/2020] New Skill Class: Insanity

Introduction

Until now a lot of players have been waiting for the new class: Insanity. The upcoming December 3rd update introduces the skill class that is based on the Shotgun (Range attack based). The narrative of Insanity and some of the motions were shown in game via Morpheus and through the Chronicle quests, but this update will hype you guys up since the class and Shotguns will finally be able to be played by all of you.

In December the development team prepared, not only the Insanity class and Shotguns, but also many other contents. XL hopes players will enjoy them.

Insanity

Many player might already know, but the Insanity class is symbol of Morpheus, who is the leader of the Pirates and the ruler of the Growling Isles. The Chronicle quest introduced Morpheus’ hidden story and the story behind the Insanity class.

The combat style Morpheus invented by using the Shotgun has some differences between its range based class, Archery. Unlike Archery that can deal the maximum amount of damage from a distant and the bow that can quickly shoot, the Shotgun shoots several pre-loaded bullets and gunpowder to deal powerful damage, however it cannot deal precise damage from faraway.

Instead of precisely sniping targets far from the fight, the ideal play would likely be to join the heart of the fight and utilize the Shotgun’s wide array of powerful AoE skills to deal a lot of damage to a lot of foes. Also, Morpheus’ Insanity does everything in its power to destroy its foe, so even if you cannot kill the foe, you could leave debuffs like Corrosion or Infection to force the enemy to abandon the fight.

It may seem a bit unfamiliar to the traditional PvP group, but XL hopes the class can use its flexible dodging skill and mobility skills to weaken the enemy’s ball and break their formation.

This shit takes a long time.
Exact values will get balanced after testing period.

Shotgun

Shotgun will be Insanity’s main range weapon. Both bow and the shotgun can use each of their own main class’s skills, but the weapons have slightly different effect when using the counterpart’s skill class, so it is efficient to use the weapons for its intended skill class.

I’m kind of iffy with the Soulslake Shotgun tooltip, cuz XL is dogshit with their Korean.

Every gear line (hiram, lib, etc) will have a Shotgun. Shotguns will be available in Hiram, Raid, Dungeon, Crafting. A total of 63 Shotguns will be added in this update, and they have the identical gear progression like other weapons. Since there are a variety of designs for the shotguns it will be quite a fun for you guys to find the skin that you would like to use.

Race Change (Visuals Only)

Since many players requested, players can now change their character model to a different race. This only lasts for a certain amount of time (30 days for the item shown below), so it doesn’t actually affect the player’s gender, faction. Think of it as this simply changes your character’s racial looks.

Item that lets you change your racial appearance. Once used, you also receive a 1 day lasting Salon ticket.
You can basically change yourself to the other races from this UI. You cannot change your racial appearances while you’re already changed into one. You cannot change your gender while you changed your racial appearnaces.

When you use the item, a UI will pop up to prompt you for the race you change to change into. After racial change, you will get the basic racial features (like Warborn horns), but you will have to use the complimentary salon ticket to make specific customization. Also the effects are gone, you can use a salon ticket to change back to your original appearance instead of the default racial looks. (I assume this is given for free?)

Like mentioned above, this does not permanently change your race, but only changes your racial character model, so there are a couple points to keep in mind.

  • If you Cancel the Racial Change, the remaining duration does not get refunded in anyway.
  • While you in a different race, you cannot change your race or change your gender.
  • Racial specific item appearances won’t be shown once you change your race.
  • When the duration expires or gets canceled while the player is in-game, logging back in will update the player’s looks.

To change your race, you need to learn about the secrets about racial transmogrify. Its not a big secret, but the quest <Potion that changes appearances> must be completed to change races. Said quest will have more information once the update is live.

XL does not exactly decided how they will provide this race changing ticket, but they are planning to make it available during an event to commemorate the first release of race changes. Further posts will contain more information about this.

Labor Changes

The current labor system saves information on to the account, where labor is shared to any character regardless of which server it is in. But this feature caused problems where a server’s labor would get used on a different server, and promoted alt usages, and overall caused a negative impact to the game.

To fix this problem and improve Archeage’s economy, XL is changing the account labor system.

First of all, the biggest change is that every labor regenerated while the character is offline gets added into the server labor pool. As a result, the labor regenerated by staying online every 5 minutes now only gets added into the server pool where that character is logged in. Now labor regenerated while the account being offline only get saved into the account labor pool.

As you can notice, KR server’s labor system is quite different than ours, and I don’t think this labor change really matters to us.

To conclude, there will be some UI changes and tool tip changes. Also, the account labor pool (Newly called: Offline Labor) will be used first instead of the server labor pool.

This information will be announced more elaborately through a separate post, so check it out to avoid any inconveniences while playing the game. Also, there will be an event to give out free labor to compensate for any inconveniences that arises from the upcoming change.

Quality of Life Improvements

1. Max Gold Trade Limit Increase

The Auction House had a limit of 200,000 gold when selling items. During the early stages of servicing the game this limit was sufficient, but after many updates, the amount of gold trading steadily increased as well as more expensive items getting added. There has been a lot of requests to increase this limit, but due to technical problems (lol what), it took a lot of time to increase the maximum gold trade limit.

Notice the glorious 1 Million gold limit.

This update increases the gold trade limit to 1,000,000 gold in the AH and also almost every aspects of the game that is related to gold. (I assume they’re talking about mail and 1:1 trades.)

2. Special Respawn Areas

This patch adds special respawn areas into 6 more regions in Auroria. Nuimari, Marcala, Heedmar, Calmlands, Exeloch, and Sungold now has special respawn areas for each faction (a total of 3). All these special respawn areas have the same rules as the special respawn areas from other zones.

3. Austera Trade Routes

Austera has a trade outlet and is considered to be used by a lot of players on the East. Experienced pack runners wouldn’t have a problem passing through the hills from Mahadevi, but for the inexperienced, this might be a bit difficult. Also a mistake can cause the Farm cart to get stuck on a cliff and end up lowering the pack’s freshness (cause of turning in late).

This update, like the past several updates, also increases trade routes. We hope this makes the player’s trade runs a bit easier.

4. Party Duel

Duel, a way to prove your strength in PvP has always only supported 1:1s. This update adds party duels. It is identical to the existing 1:1 duel, but can only be requested when both sides have parties formed.

Basically a new option added when right clicking the player.

5. Tax Paying Change

Like announced earlier, XL is adding a way for players to pay housing tax for the remaining patron days they have. Pre-paying can only be done when the player has at least 5 days of patron left. (To basically make people have to always have patron on if they own land.)

Also, when buildings are sold via Building Management Titles, the tax that has been paid gets reset, and thus cannot be “leased out” or returned. Please take note of this to avoid any inconveniences.

Conclusion

Looking at the preparation for the last update of 2020, we feel that time really does fly quickly. Especially this year felt like the development team lacked a lot of time to prepare for the updates, because of the pandemic. However, we think we will get pass through the December update thanks to all of your cheers, interest, and continuous love.

XL plans to finish this year strong and is preparing to continuously roll out updates next year. XL realizes that it is important to make sure that the contents, that has been added each month during the past 3 years, does not lose its shelf life and stay exciting.

January’s Amigo post will discuss about a new zone, stories about the Erenor Mountain and its surroundings, as well as many other fruitful content. Lastly, it will also layout road map of 2021’s upcoming updates.

[11/5/2020] Golden Plains Brawl

Yet another patch without the Insanity class update. Oh well LOOOOL

Introduction

With your warm cheers the dev team finally started working in the office since October 12th. Korea seems to be getting stable regarding COVID, but regions like NA/EU are still fucked and COVID have been re-spreading and XL is worried. Especially with the cold weather and the high temperature swings, it is very important to take care of your health.

Today we are introducing the November major updates, and give a sneak peek of some of the things in the Winter Updates we are aiming to release during December and January.

Golden Plains Brawl

This month, a new season of Arena has been added. If the Navel Arena was a survival game with Clippers, the Golden Plains Brawls takes place in the already familiar Golden Plains map and is this season’s Arena. Like the Naval Arena, this arena will also last until the one last survivor remains, and the objective is to defeat other participants and survive as long as possible.

The arena is Free for All with a max 50 player limit. Players will be able to enjoy the arena for about a month until the December update rolls out.

Brawl Entry UI

Many of the rules are taken from the Navel arena, so the overall flow will be similar to the Naval arena. After the initial preparation time, players can either farm chests are defeat other participants to gain a variety of combat effects and useful items. Also, as time passes, the zone the players can be in will get smaller.

Lastly, to maintain a constant brawl in the instance, players will gain a penalty if they do not commit to combat when they are close to other players. Once they get enough penalty, the player will lose the necessary abilities to survive in the arena, so be careful.

The last survivor gets a hidden achievement and tag, so please enjoy the arena.

Mistsong Banquet Season 4

The long awaited Mistsong Banquet is finally back. There were feedback that last season was a bit too difficult and, in fact, there weren’t that many players that completed the last round.

As a result, the mid rounds will become slightly more easier while the last round’s difficulty will get harder. Besides that, a new type of cannon will be available that can only be installed close to the statue, so that experienced players can aid other lanes by placing cannons there too.

New Cannon: Reinforced Cannon

This season’s Mistsong Banquet is a shared instance where players from all servers can play together (I assume Legacy and Unchained players can queue together.)

Changes

  • Added Reinforced Cannons that can only be installed close to the statue.
  • Mobs that spawn starting round 13 have slightly less HP and movement speed.
  • After the mid round, mobs that don’t get affected by flame cannons can appear.
  • Mobs in round 21 will spawn quicker over time.

Miscellaneous

1. Wandering Scrap Trader

After last time’s trade pack changes, it seemed like a lot of the so called “throwaway packs” have reduced, but some zones still have a lot of them. These packs are the packs that are just left on the ground after players make them for their dailies. XL thinks selling these packs and getting some pocket money is part of the game and can be enjoyable.

But if there’s too many left over packs on the ground, it annoys players and ruins the beautiful landscape.

Wandering Scrap Trader

This patch adds a scrap trader, whose goal is to protect the environment. Players can purchase a clean-up bag on the General Merchant to collect these throwaway packs and sell these bags to the Scrap Trader.

But since the Scrap Trader is also a trader that needs to make profit (…) they won’t give you more gold than you would get by actually selling the packs yourself. This can reduce a lot of the manual labor and time, so consider spending some of your extra time to protect the environment.

2. Balancing Ship Components

Ship components have always been used a lot, but hasn’t been balanced due to balancing other things. This update focuses on buffing lesser used ship components, so that they can be comparable to those that are more used commonly.

Changes

  • Turtleship’s max occupancy is increased from 20 -> 30. Mode changing cool down is reduced from 30s -> 20s.
  • Turtleships’s thorn damage from the roof is calculated differently from fixed damage -> percent damage based on HP (I assume current HP?)
  • Buffed Naval Cannon and High-Speed Siege Cannon’s AOE range from 4m -> 6m. (Depending on the damage increase shooting cool down can change.)
  • Eznan Sails effect buffed by adding an extra effect where the boat’s movement speed is increased by 30% and receives 3.5% less siege damage for 30 seconds when under combat.
  • Lutesong Sail’s turning speed (uhh this is actually untouched.), acceleration, reverse speed is increased (And more…).
    • Example: Eternal Lutesong Zephyr Square Foresail Stats:
      Max movement speed: 80% -> 90%
      Reverse speed: 80% -> 120%
      Turning speed: -30% -> -30%
      Acceleration: 0% -> 10%

3. Surveys

Not only from in-game support, XL listens to their players from Amigo comments and many other community sites. Yeah sure, you should do a better job then. A Big job per say. This requires a certain amount of engagement from XL, so there are limits and is difficult for XL to listen to everyone’s thoughts and ideas.

As a result, the dev team uses in-game statistics to check game play, but this also isn’t a solution for everything. XL is adding in-game surveys to more accurately learn about player’s thoughts and ideas. I doubt we’re ever gonna get this feature LOL They’re shit at English xD

Surveys can only be done once per account, and players that participate in the survey can get a reward. For accurate statistics, XL will filter out alts from answering the surveys. Uhh… good luck with that.

Conclusion

This is it for November’s update, and here’s some info about the upcoming Winter Update.

First of all, like mentioned in the Chronicle quests the Insanity class scheduled to be released in December is based on Morpheus, and uses Shotguns made with Dwarf technology. It’s a range class where each shots feel great. Most of the skills in Archery and Insanity can be used interchangeably regardless of whether you use a bow or a shotgun, but like Swiftblade, some skills will have different effects depending on the type of weapon you are using.

To end, XL is working on a new zone that is related to Ipnysh and Serpentis. We think some players will already know which zone it will be. Here are 2 concept images of the mysterious structures that will be in the zone. This zone is planned to be added in the January patch.

[10/8/2020] Major Update Releases

We didn’t get the Insanity Rifle class yet, but we got a major balance patch. I’m personally not too keen of it, but hey it’s an attempt.

Introduction

We hoped we’ll get back to normal since the last Amigo post, but because some fuckers going to clubs and some old Christian fuckers that are getting manipulated by the Conservatives in Korea (I added this part in. Not in the actual translation.), COVID 19 has been spreading again, and the XL has been continuing remote working from home. For October and the Winter updates, the developers are only going to the office when it is absolutely necessary, and is trying to do their best to meet deadlines, but they are facing issues. Yeah, the devs are just leaching off. Figures.

The dev team hopes that everyone would become more mindful of each other and work together to make it out through the hard times.

The Memory of the Carcass

The dev team tried to add in the Chronicle quest line, “The Memory of the Carcass” (Introduced back in September), on time, but social issues and working from home delayed the quest from getting added to last month’s update. This is finally added in this October’s update. We apologize to those who were waiting for this new content, and will return the favor with more new content and exciting stories soon.

Special Respawn Location

Whenever a neutral zone is in war, each faction spawns in different places. This has been always the case since launch, and was designed so, because respawn locations can affect PvP. Since content exists in so many zones, it is difficult to provide both factions with respawn locations equally. Fuck you. This shit is so easy to do if you actually play the fucking game XL.

For this reason, XL thought putting respawn locations in the correct location wouldn’t fix all the issue. As a result, XL thought making respawn locations to have each of their own purposes would be a good idea. Well the respawn location needs to be saved for at least 1 or 2 hours then.

This is the UI that lets you save a respawn location.
This is the UI you will see when you die. You get to either choose to spawn on your original Nui, or on your designated Nui.

This update lets faction heroes to set a designated respawn location for players in the same faction. The number of times players can set designated respawn location depends on how strong the faction is. Designated respawn locations last for 15 minutes, and each heroes have a cooldown of 30 minutes to set a designated respawn location. This shit is useless if it only lasts for 15 minutes monkeys. If you respawn from this designated respawn location, you will get a stronger buff so that you can start your battle more advantageously.

For now, this system will only be applied in Nuia and Haranya’s neutral continents. God damn it. This shit is useless if its not available in the ocean and Auroria. Since Auroria zones have the minimum number of respawn areas, the use of this feature is very limited. So XL, will add more respawn locations in the future and then make this feature available in the future.

Gear Balancing

1. Raid Boss Gear

This line of gear, that you can get from killing Raid bosses, is very powerful, but is very expensive and limited. This led to a question whether Raid boss gear were even worth going for.

XL received continuous feedback, but they were conservative with changes for the gear, because Raid boss gears can get free farmed in places where the factions weren’t balanced. However, the current gear system has Hiram gear and Dungeon gear buffed up a lot, and XL believes this will still give players a variety of options even if Raid boss gears are getting free farmed.

As a result, XL wants to strengthen Raid boss gear’s position as the best available gear to make it everyone’s ultimate goal. XL hopes this change will increase Raid boss content activities.

Changes

  • Black Dragon, Anquish Weapons and Garden Anthalon, Leviathan, Charybdis Weapons are stronger. (Weapons get more damage and Armors gets more physical and magical defense.)
  • Weapon active skills are greatly buffed, but the cooldown is increased from 45s -> 60s.
  • Anquish active skill requirement is now much easier.

2. Erenor Gear

Unlike Hiram gear, Erenor gear had gotten new additions and changes pretty often. As a result, the line of gear has unnecessary synth effects and is missing some important synth effects. Basically the gear doesn’t suit with the current balance. To fix this issue, they are balancing Erenor gear. (Will not be adding another slot of synth effects.)

Changes

  • Some Erenor Gear (including accessories) will be getting additional synth effects. (Probably something like Erenor rings will now get magic def pen. This is just an example from me. I don’t know if this will be true.)
  • T3 Brilliant Erenor Gear’s Synth stats will now be identical to T5 Exalted Hiram Gear. (Except the main stats like Strength, Agility.)

3. 2 Hand Weapons

Because 2 hand weapons were not able to utilize a full weapon slot, XL passively balanced the 2 handers by making tweaks to Lunagems and Lunafrosts. Unfortunately, this wasn’t enough to improve the gear’s efficiency. Fuckers 2H wasn’t weak. Swiftblade was just OP. As this issue is also related to players choosing to use skill classes like Swiftblade and Malediction, it wasn’t easy for XL to make changes to 2 hand weapons.

XL though buffing 2 hand weapons was necessary for 2 hand players to utilize Battlerage or Sorcery’s full potential. (Since they can’t use Swiftblade or Malediction.) Buffing Battlerage or Sorcery indirectly buff Swiftblade and Malediction, so XL decided to just buff 2 hand weapons instead.

Changes

  • 2 Hand Weapon damage (including healing power) is increased from 1.2 -> 1.4 times a one hand weapon’s damage / healing power.
  • 2 Hand Weapon’s Synth effects are increased from 1.3 -> 1.8 times a one hand weapon’s synth effect. (Eg. if 1H’s def pen: 100, 2H’s def pen will be 180 instead of 130.)

Balancing Skill Classes

XL wanted to avoid balancing skill classes until they introduced the Insanity rifle class into the game, because these changes cause a huge impact in game play which can stress players. However, XL thought Swiftblade needed some changes, and they will be making some conservative balance changes.

Swiftblade

  • Instinct‘s skill damage is decreased from 60% -> 50%. (Can still be stacked twice. Max possible skill damage increase is basically 120% -> 100%.)
  • Fleeting Footsteps now decreases Swiftblade skill mana cost by 60%.
  • Adrenaline Rush can only stack once per second. (Relentless Assault will not be able to add multiple stacks at once.)
  • Sinister Strike‘s Combo effect to increase Impale duration by 2 seconds can only be applied once.

Archery

  • Hit & Run (The new Deadeye) no longer gets immune from pull.

Occultism

  • Crippling Mire: Gale duration is decreased from 8s -> 6s. Range decreased from 25m -> 15m.
    • Combo added that increases its range by 10m when under effect of Hit & Run or Steady Shooting.

Sorcery

  • Arc Lightning damage decreased by 7%. (Changed due to buff for 2 hand weapons.)

Witchcraft

  • Purge‘s duration is decreased from 10s -> 5s.

Basic

  • Defiance now removes the effect and adds immunity to Distress and Provoke.

Miscellaneous

1. Distorted Steed

This is the 4th mount available in the Kyrios shop. This looks more aggressive than the other steeds. It had both version: the normal version and the Gallant version.

2. Garden 1 Server (KR’s first unchained server)

The unchained server finally gets all the content Legacy already had. They will now have access to the Garden instance and the Ipnysh Sanctuary dungeon. They will now have access to T5 Hiram and T3 Lib gear. Now this server will now be able to queue with the existing servers (They can now queue with the Legacy servers…?)

3. Housing Changes

Now players will not be able to put on plots if they have more than 1 unbuilt plot already down. This rule is still applied even if the plot is a community building like the Fellowship Plaza. XL is also planning to add changes to the Tax pre-pay system to prevent players from not paying Patron and still maintaining their buildings for a certain amount of time. (Updates will come during November or December.)

Conclusion

XL always wants to show up a bunch of new updates, but the past September’s and October’s updates were rather small in size due to COVID-19 and working from home. Though this is not what they anticipated, XL claims they will do their best during the remaining time to provide a stable service. Yeah sure, your servers always go down.
